About the Artist
I grew up in rural Southwest Colorado, where my deep respect and love of art was nurtured by my artist father. From him, I learned the power of a single line and how to use it to tell a story.
Throughout my artistic journey, I’ve been influenced by artists like Marc Folly, Andrew Wyeth, and John Blockley—masterful creators who evoke emotional depth and communication stories of both individuals and places. I seek to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, the magic in the commonplace, and I invite the viewer to do the same. My work is a commentary on the human experience and the impact we have on the world around us.
I prefer to keep my artwork loose, staying close to the essence of my original sketches. My color palette reflects the natural world, and I tend to avoid solid blocks of color or light, instead illustrating the many hues that emerge from a single surface or area. I delight in experimenting with the way paint flows and blends. Each pigment behaves uniquely, and I find these interactions just as compelling as the subject of the painting itself .
I hold a BA in Art History with a minor in Theater Design from Colorado State University and an MLS, focused on archival science, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. My career has spanned roles as a scenic and lighting designer, librarian, archivist, curator, artist, and mother. I currently reside in the stunning landscape of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
